The Vision
It all began in a car on the ride back from Montreal….
- THE FIRST SERVICE OF FIRM FAITH COMMUNITY CHURCH was held on June 12, 2005, at 18 Belinda Court, in Richmond Hill, Toronto, ON, in the home of David and Sonali Sinnatamby where a core group of 12 people had gathered for a weekend retreat to bring the vision of a church to fruition in an area of Scarborough that we had been led to by the Holy Spirit. The church took its name from its parent organization Firm Faith Ministries which is a Missions organization. To understand that beginning, however, you must go back further to a core of youthful leaders who felt called beyond the scope of just their local assembly to transform entire Islands in the Caribbean.
The Beginning of The Vision
- Proverbs 29:18 "Where there is No Vision the People Perish". It was this verse that was brought home forcefully to the President of the Firm Faith Ministries Milton Edwards while returning from a trip to Montreal, Quebec in December of 1996.
- God spoke to Pastor Milton about the need to begin turning his heart and that of the North American churches toward the lslands of the Caribbean as a means of ministering to the churches there by assisting in equipping and providing them with the tools and resources needed to continue to be effective in ministering to their communities and within their congregation, while at the same time seeking to re-vitalize the spirits of saints which had gone cold.
- This was prayed on and shared with others who also felt that this was indeed a God-given mandate that could re-vitalize the lives of Christians both in North America and in the Caribbean.
- Firm Faith Ministries came into legal existence in July of the following year and is a not-for-profit charitable organization located in Toronto, Canada, that seeks to reach out to the Caribbean by entering into creative partnerships for the advancement of the kingdom of God.
Its Goals are twofold.
- · To provide opportunities for Christians to discover, develop, and utilize their giftedness and abilities by leaving their comfort zones and getting involved in cross-cultural ministry, thus becoming active participants in the building of the kingdom and harvesting souls.
- · To build a bridge that stretches from North America to the Caribbean that would become the impetus for the linking of the wider Christian community together where each can receive that which is necessary for the effective development of kingdom growth.
- Over these last twenty-six years, we have experienced the power of God to do amazing things in the lives of people both in North America and the Caribbean through this Ministry.
The Continuation of the vision
- Principles learned through the experience of building that ministry formed the foundation of THE WAY- FFCC’s approach to reaching people of all ages. In a real sense, Firm Faith Community Church is a young group of passionate individuals with a Mssion’s focus and heart that metamorphosed into a church.
- From this very beginning, We are seeking to fulfill the dream of becoming a biblically functioning community of believers, who are fully engaged in Reaching People, Touching Hearts, Building Lives, and Transforming Communities for the glory of God. Our highest calling is to be an authentic, biblically functioning community of believers. We invite you to join us!
